Eryn Santamoor | Lessons from GreatPHL
Eryn Santamoor is a candidate for Philadelphia City Council At-Large. She served as Deputy Managing Director under Michael Nutter and previously worked at Public Financial Management. She talks about how we can help Philly schools access more resources, clean up the streets, end the opioid epidemic, and disrupt dysfunctional policies and procedures at City Hall.
Eryn created Philly 311 to help local residents communicate problems in an organized and effective manner. This includes a mobile application where residents can report and track issues, find property information, and more.
“You shouldn’t have to know someone in city government to get a service – You pay for it!”
In addition, Eryn was the creator of Phillystat, a 2008 program that used data to bring transparency to government performance and improve how services are delivered to residents.
She opens up about a major challenge in her personal life that taught her the importance of reaching out for help, learning emotional intelligence, and genuine communication. This experience transformed how she views city management and problem-solving.
“The way this city will take off is if we put people first.”
